Scott Newquist has over 30 years of experience investing in various asset classes, overseeing those investments from a strategic and operating perspective and structuring exits through sales, joint ventures, partnering, IPOs or other structures. He was a Partner of Morgan Stanley & Co where at various times he raised and managed the approximately $1 billion Morgan Stanley Leveraged Equity Fund I,
was in charge of New Business Development, was an M&A transaction specialist and was one of five Managing Directors responsible for overseeing the firm's venture capital investments. From 1989 to 1992, Mr. Newquist was Executive Managing Director of Kidder Peabody and Company, a subsidiary of General Electric, in charge of Investment Banking and Merchant Banking.
In 1992 he founded and was President of Perception Advisors, Inc (formerly Advisory Capital Partners), which provided merger and acquisition, financial, strategic, risk management and organizational advice to companies. For two years Mr. Newquist was a Partner of Cambridge Capital Associates, a money management firm specializing in risk arbitrage and private equity. He also co-founded Veloxco, LLC, a firm managing money by employing an algorithmic trading program written by Mr. Newquist, investing in large capitalization stocks.
Mr. Newquist has an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a George F. Baker Scholar, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Williams College with a B.A. in economics. He is a Trustee of the Schepens Eye Institute. He is the co-author of Putting Investors First: Real Solutions for Better Corporate Governance, published by Bloomberg Press in 2003.
